The Austin Police Department's K-9 Patrol Unit
is comprised of seven police officers, seven
dogs, and one sergeant. Each police canine is
paired with an officer and lives at home with that
officer as part of the family.

dogs and is not affiliated with the Austin, Texas Police Department.

- New Handler! Welcome to new handler Mike
Rauert who has taken recently promoted
Det. White's place (whose dog Bandit retired
to live him). Mike is in training and will be
partnered with a new K-9 in the coming
months.
- Sadly, retired K-9 Stuka has passed away
recently after a long, great life. He worked 7
years as a police K-9, then retired and lived
with his former handler and his family. He
was over 14 years old. Ofc. Davenport has
just shared some stories about Stuka and
will be sharing pictures soon.
