K-9 Crime Fighters
Chase is a 6-year-old, 70-pound Belgian Malinois who has served with
his handler Officer Shaun Mierl in APD's K-9 Patrol for four years (they
first certified for street response in January 2004). Chase is
SWAT-certified. Originally from The Netherlands, Chase is an
outstanding searcher and is very friendly with the public when not on
duty.
Chase has a very high prey drive and is motivated by his toys more
than food. He loves to watch television, especially Animal Planet, on
the couch with Shaun. He lives with his family, which includes two
chihuahuas. Although a very brave police dog, Chase will not enter
the house if the male chihuahua is standing guard at the back door.
