Shepherd who has served on APD's K9
Patrol for 8 years. Originally from Germany,
he has been with his handler Officer Mark

after an amazingly long career and is now
living at home with his former handler.

Named after Seinfeld's Cosmo Kramer, Kozmo is a laid-back member of the family at
home and a steady working dog on the job. He has a little yorkie friend at home named
Pappy that he gets along with great. As with many police dogs, Kozmo is not motivated
by food so much as he loves his Kong toy.
In November 2005, Kozmo developed a serious problem with his liver and underwent
major surgery. Part of his liver and his gall bladder were removed and his prognosis
was not good. Amazingly, Kozmo not only survived, he recovered so well after
recuperating at home for several weeks that he was back working on the streets of
Austin two months.
