K-9 Crime Fighters
Zeke is a male 80-pound Belgian Malinois originally
from The Netherlands who recently joined APD's K-9
Patrol in February 2007.  Zeke is partnered with
Officer Randy Casler who joined K-9 Patrol in late
2006.

As of 2007, Zeke is just over a year old, which is
unusually young for a police dog.  He is highly
energetic and the K-9 trainer says he shows "good
fight drive." His immediate reward during training is
his Kong toy, but his favorite is his toy rope ball.

Officer Casler says he and Zeke are training well
together and are now officially certified and working
the streets together as of Fall 2007.  Zeke's bite
work is "solid," and while he hates his muzzle, is
learning to deal with it and other distractions.

At home, Zeke lives with Officer Casler and his
family.   Zeke is still a little concerned about water
and is being trained by playing in the kiddie pool.

At the end of 2007, Zeke's first apprehension went great.  He tracked a suspect
fleeing from a stolen car four houses down and located him hiding on top of a shed.
When the suspect tried to scale an 8-foot fence, Zeke jumped to stop him.  Ofc.
Casler is very proud of Zeke because he didn't hesitate, was confident, and did his
job exactly as he was trained to do.  Congratulations to them both for all the hard
work and training that led up to this great find!
