Information:

The Malinois is the short-haired version of the four
varieties of the Belgian Sheepdog, who are all similar
in temperament and personality, but differ in the
appearance of their coat.  They are lighter framed than
the German Shepherd Dog and tend to be very quick
on their feet.
The name "Malinois" comes from the town of Malines in Belgium, which did much to
popularize the short-haired herding dogs and formed a club to promote them in the late
1800's.

They are widespread throughout Europe as working dogs and members of the family.
Like all Belgian Sheepdogs, the Malinoises are hardy, extremely quick and responsive to
commands, protective and loyal to their handlers, and have a strong desire to work.  They
have a valid reputation as high-energy dogs and have been known to be referred to as the
Ferrari of the working dog world.
